RV Insurance
Recreational Vehicle (RV) insurance will protect your camper, travel trailer, motorhome and even your horse trailer. Because your RV is part vehicle and part home, you want to make sure your RV insurance policy covers you while you are on the road or parked in a scenic location. Two of our larger RV insurance companies are GMAC Insurance and Progressive.
A recent study revealed that 90% of RVs may be underinsured. If you cover your RV with ordinary auto insurance, you could be exposing yourself to serious financial risk or paying too much for coverage that doesn’t fit your needs.
Liability coverage provides you with bodily injury and property damage coverage, medical payments, uninsured coverage and more.
Different options are available for Comprehensive and Collision coverage in the event of a covered total loss. Options you can choose include:
- Stated Value – market value/actual cash value of the RV
- Agreed Value – the insured amount, regardless of the current market value.
- Replacement cost – will replace your insured RV with a new RV that is most like it.
- Storage option – allows you to suspend your collision and liability coverages when your RV is off the road. Your comprehensive coverage stays in force to fully protect your RV against fire, storm, wind and theft.
- Personal Effects Coverage provides coverage for damage or loss to items normally used with your RV when physical damage coverage is selected.
- Full-Timer Coverage – some policies offer the option for coverage to RVers who live in their rig full-time.
- Some policies offer roadside assistance in the event of a breakdown or accident. Other optional coverage may include accident forgiveness, pet coverage and diminishing deducible.
